Innovative research and development served at the heart of our vision. From convection ovens for airlines in 1946 through our game-changing thermoelectric heat recovery solutions.
During World War II, Leonard Spitz designed and implemented the food service infrastructure in the District of Columbia area for what later became the Pentagon. In 1946, he pioneered the use of convection ovens to quickly heat meals aboard commercial aircraft. By the early 1950's, Mr. Spitz invented factory machinery used to mass produce crinkle-cut French fries. John Grove, whose mobile cranes are used worldwide today, built his first prototype in the 1950's funded and used by Mr. Spitz in his food processing factory, LSI.
Although Tuscarora USA is no longer in business, the history lives on.
